Joanne King and Annette Hawkins were appointed by the Bishop of Chichester and commissioned during a special Evensong in Chichester Cathedral.

Revd King, vicar at Holy Cross Bersted in West Sussex, and Revd Hawkins vicar at St Mary Salehurst, in East Sussex both share the position of Diocesan Disability Advisers alongside their parish ministry. They will play a vital role in ensuring churches are accessible to all.

The focus will be on welcoming all people and creating an inclusive community where everyone can fully participate in the life of the Church.

At the start, they will assess the needs of the church with education, training and pastoral care being priority areas.

It is anticipated that collaboration will be crucial to the success of this ministry and Jo and Annette are keen to hear from anyone with an interest, experience or skills in this area.
